In 1999 the US Military left Panama, freeing up large amounts of land that they had previously occupied in the suburbs of Panama City. The land is now available to buy, leaving the area open to much development for both residential and commercial purposes.

The area of Albrook is a prime example of this. In the past it was home to the Albrook air force base, but has now been turned into a beautiful suburban paradise, with great housing, surrounded by parks, open green areas and beautiful gardens and schools too. Therefore this area provides the best of both worlds, close proximity, with all the benefits of the city, yet the peacefulness of country living, making it an area of hot property right now!

The area of Albrook is one of the most up and coming developments in the area, with many shopping centers going up around it. In Albrook you can currently go to the Cinema, go food shopping, clothes shopping and much more, all whilst remaining in the calmer area, rather than venturing into Panama City all of the time. Although it is close and easily accessible for when you do want to visit! You can also fly to anywhere in Panama from Albrook, and even up to Costa Rica.

Clayton is another former US Military Base and home to the Ciudad del Saber ( City of Knowledge), and is now a tax free area. The area is now an educational center for business development and ILISA, a Spanish speaking school which is new to the area.

So its great for tourists, But what does it have to offer investors?

Location - As a suburb of Panama City, you have the best of both worlds in this area. You are literally a few minutes from a huge city, which has every kind of shop, restaurant, bar etc you could ever want, yet you have the relaxing surroundings of almost countryside living. You also have easy beach access with just a 1hr15 drive to the beaches of Farallon.

Housing - The area of Albrook was built by the US and was built for American's, therefore everything you would require from a residential area is right on your door step. You have open green areas with parks, however you have the benefit of the spacing of houses being larger than the US and UK.
